M-E-T-E-O-R- replacement has been confirmed

as far as some readers are probably concerned, M-E-T-E-O-R- system replacement has been confirmed through negotiation that took place last week.

M-E-T-E-O-R-, whose name stands for ‘Mobility Enhanced TFT-Equipped with Optimized Resource’ is a notebook PC that has been in service for 3 years under supervision of yud1, back on his student days at university. the Acer Travelmate 4020 notebook, nevertheless, has given sheer contributions before its replacement after years.

“it has been in service for years, and it has given numerous contributions at its best,” as he said about the notebook used to be under his supervision. “there have been times — tough and hectic, and of course there was also fun. unfortunately, we have to face that it’s not as reliable as it used to be on the latter times.”

M-E-T-E-O-R- has been contributing in many areas, ranging from programming to image editing and movie making. although reports have it that M-E-T-E-O-R- has been suffering from some kind of component damage on its latter times, still it was known to have been continuously working despite the situation.

the replacement has been decided, as the deal had been through on mid-August. the former 15.4” Travelmate is now replaced with a Dell XPS M1330, codenamed AURA. the choice on XPS was decided after heated competition with another candidate of Sony Vaio CR series.

“it (the VAIO CR) has nothing to do with anything for now. right now the replacement is settled, and AURA is here. truth is, it’s good thing that the decision was made that way. I dearly wish that it would be able to contribute more, as well as better than M-E-T-E-O-R-.” as he spoke.

AURA, whose name stands for ‘Advanced, Upgraded-Resource Assistant’ is armed with Core2 Duo T8100 2.1 GHz and 2 x 1 GB PC-5300 memory. the notebook is also equipped with 13.3” WXGA TFT screen and 8-in-1 card reader, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth adapter. a custom wallpaper has been in use since official replacement, made specifically for the brand-new XPS.

“I have been working to earn it, and then I wanted to do something about it. there were works and stuffs on late that night, but I decided to think: work? what work?’ and started the wallpaper. took two hours, and I’m confident that it’s on par with the Dell’s official one.” while the official XPS wallpaper suggests black-and-silver theme (L), the custom one (R) introduces some shades of crimson and the equipment name instead of the default ‘XPS’ logo.

as for the current situation, AURA and M-E-T-E-O-R- are currently undergoing post-replacement transition period. documents migration from M-E-T-E-O-R- has yet to be completely done, as well as application installations are to be conducted on AURA.

“it’s a good thing that AURA is here. I dearly wish that we would be able to work together for a long time to come. choosing over a notebook can be like choosing a girlfriend to some extent — but no, I’m not that geek.” he deadpanned as then concluded the saying; whether or not AURA will meet the expectations is to be revealed through time.

  2. gutling gun

    n.

from english slang guts ‘courage’ and english suffix -ling ‘the derived sense indicating possession of or connection with a quality’ ; connected with the word gun ‘a kind of weapon’.

‘gutling gun’ : a weapon only possessed by a gutling, someone whose guts. When used, delivers an effect of being referenced, irked or — in extreme case — offended to its target. (indon.: ‘kena sepet’).
